On holiday in Cornwall - Within easy reach of Falmouth
Falmouth is a great base from which to experience a self catering holiday in Cornwall. There are so many things to do that we cannot hope to list them here. What we have done is to set out a few ideas and give you some useful links.
St Mawes and The Roseland Peninsula are a short ferry ride from the Price of Wales Pier in Falmouth. St Mawes is a beautiful village (shops, pubs, restaurants, galleries) with harbour, two sandy beaches and Henry VIII castle, at the end of the lovely Roseland Peninsula. The Roseland Peninsula itself is beautifully unspoilt, with wonderful beaches, glorious coastline, charming villages, coastal walks, hidden pubs and stunning scenery. For a lovely, car free day why not take a ferry to Trelissick, cross the Fal river on the King Harry Ferry then walk the 6 miles down to St Mawes before returning to Falmouth on the St Mawes Ferry?
There are many great gardens near to Falmouth including Glendurgan, Trebah, Trelissick and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Cornwall is full of old mine workings which make for interesting visits including Geevor Tin Mine (dramatically situated on Cornwall’s Atlantic coast and the largest preserved mine site in the country) and Poldark Mine (an 18th century tin mine which is one of Cornwall’s most important heritage sites).
St. Michael’s Mount is a great place to visit and explore - discover legend, myth and over a thousand years of incredible history.
St. Ives is home to the Tate Gallery. The gallery boasts a fantastic display of art created in and associated with Cornwall.
The world famous cliff top open air theatre, the Minack Theatre, has a spectacular location and stunning views. This is a great place to visit or take in a show.
Trerice is an intimate Elizabethan manor and a Cornish gem. It remains little changed by the advances in building fashions over the centuries...
